CULPA on Vergil does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The extension does not track your browsing activity, identify you as a user, or send any information about you to any server.
When you visit Vergil (vergil.columbia.edu), the extension reads instructor names visible on the page and fetches the corresponding professor ratings from culpa.info. This is the only network request the extension makes.
Rating data fetched from culpa.info is cached locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. This cache exists solely to reduce redundant network requests and expires after 24 hours. It contains only professor names and their public CULPA ratings — nothing related to you or your activity. You can clear it at any time by clicking "Clear cached data" in the extension popup.
The extension communicates only with culpa.info to retrieve professor ratings. No data is shared with any other third party, analytics service, or advertiser.
